Winter Quarter non-credit courses

offered at Lord Fairfax College

Several non-eredit short courses have been scheduled for the Winter Quarter at Lord Fairfax Community College. Students may register for any non-credit course by calling the office of Continuing Education (869-1120; ext. 277) or in person at the college during normal operating hours (8 a.m. — 4:30 p.m., Monday — Friday).

In addition, senior citizens may enroll in any non-credit course free of charge, provided all paying students have been accommodated.

4-H teen weekend

Summer-In-The-Winter Festival! P^ns are now complete for the annual “Summer-in-the-Winter Festival” program which will be held at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center February 7-9, 1986. Cost for the weekend will be $30.00.

Please come by or call the Rappahannock Extension Office at 6753619 for a copy of the program and registration forms. The deadline is February 1. Virginia Cooperative Extension programs, activities, and employment opportunities are available to all people regardless of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, handicap, or political affiliation.

’s Comet lecture set

With the^visibility of the rarely seen Halley’s Comet, Lord Fairfax Community College will sponsor a lecture by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center astronomer Dr. Joseph F. Dolan on Thursday, January 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the College Conference Center.

Dr. Dolan’s informational talk on Halley’s Comet will be preceeded by telescopic viewings of the comet from 6 to 7 p.m. on the college grounds.

The lecture, free and open to the public, is made possible through the Harlow Shapley Visiting Lectureships. Dr. Dolan will instruct ' LFCC astronomy class on the space telescope and address the Honors Convocation at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 10, in addition to t^e ppblic lecture on January 9 at 7:30 p.m.

Parks and Recreation plans trips

The Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Department has winter trips planned to the Capitals/Islanders game on January 24 and the Ice Capades on Februaiy 15.
