Photo courtesy Natalie Butler RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY HIGH School reading lab students took part in “December is Reading Month” by participating in a “newspaper race” against 8th grade students at Culpeper County Junior High School on December 12. After being warmly welcomed by Mrs. Joan Bloomer, Principal of CCJHS, the students read Thursday’s newspaper for 15 minutes. After careful reading, the students were asked to answer comprehension questions composed by teachere of both teams — Mrs. Jess Ann McCay of Culpeper and Mrs. Deb Mills of Rappahannock. The questions were asked by Mr. John Brooks, the elementary supervisor. The Rappahannock team won after answering a tie-breaking question. Final score was Rappahannock 10 and Culpeper 8.
