To the editor:

The purpose of this letter is to . speak out against the proposed Krebser-Martin office building to be constructed next to the clinic on Gay Street. My objection is a simple one — I do not wish to see the quiet, residential character of this town be transformed into a commercial one.

Slowly but surely commercial enterprises are spreading throughout the town and my questions to the Town Council and residents are “When will it stop?” How many homes .will eventually be turned into business enterprises? How many green spaces will be built upon? How many of our neighbors wifi find the noise, traffic and congestion unbearable and make the decision to move out of town?

Washington’s uniqueness lies in the fact that a quiet village atmosphere exists in which local residents can live in a relatively uncrowded area. With the coming of more and more commercial and business enterprises this atmosphere will undeniably change. I, for one, do not wish to see this happen. The proposed Krebser-Martin office building with all the ensuing traffic and congestion will surely contribute , to this change.
