Community Lenten Series this Wednesday, February 19 at Trinity Episcopal Church. A covered dish supper begins at 6:15, and a nursery is provided during the program.
‘The Gods Must Be Crazy’
The Gods Must Be Crazy will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre on February 15 and 16.
A wonderful, thoroughly original film from South African filmmaker, Jamie Uys, gives us a delightful look at the Kalahari bushmen of Botswana. His approach is through a gentle slapstick comedy brought about by a Coke bottle dropping from the sky into the quiet veldt. The bushmen consider it a gift from the gods until it starts causing trouble, and they decide to take it to the end of the earth to drop it off.
The movie is rated PG.
Creative puppetry workshop
The Child Care and Learning Center is sponsoring a Creative Puppetry workshop conducted by Maggie Rogers and Bethany Craig. The first three classes will be held at the Learning Center on Saturdays, February 8 — February 22, from 11 a.m. to noon. The last five classes will be held at The Gay Street Theatre March 1 — March 29 at the same time with an Easter Puppet Show on the last day. Admissions-placement testing
Wakefield School will hold Admissions and Placement testing on Saturday, February 22, beginning at 10 a.m. There is no pre-application necessary for the testing, but interested parents are urged to call the school before the testing date in order to receive a catalog and application.
Wakefield, a private school for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12, has daily bus service to ten counties in Virginia and West Virginia. For more information, call the school at (703) 635-8111.
Black History Month program
The Women’s Auxiliary of the Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Association will hold their annual Black Histoiy program on February 23 at 3 p.m. at the Orange County High School in Orange. Donations are $3 for adults and $1 for children. Tickets may be purchased from Rachael Aylor, 987-8739, or any other missionary lady from Hopewell. Alfreds Broadus is president and Rachael Aylor is co-worker from Rappahannock.
