It is almost on the same level as that of Professor Robert Eisner in last Sunday’s Washington Post who maintains that, if we take inflation into account, we are not really running gigantic federal deficits but are actually running surpluses! And surpluses are awfiil for the economy, he says. So, and, but — not to worry and forget GrammRudman!
That the proposed Real Estate rax Rate last year represented a “runaway property tax” is clearly svident from a casual review of the past five county budgets, as Mr. Lane and I constantly told you all when the Supervisors at first considsred the higher rate. There is not a taxpayer in the County who has paid lis tax bill to Frances Foster in De:ember, 1985 and the preceding /ears (whether “protected” under LUV or not) who is unaware of this fact.
After the Platts letter is printed me from Ronald Vickers of the RCEA. (Incidentally, the RCEA is 10 longer qualified to speak for Rappahannock’s public school teachers — if it ever was. To confirm this: :heck the number of teachers who ire currently members of the RCEA.
