Christopher Thomas Hitt, in another case, was charged with reckless driving. The incident occurred on January 25 when Trooper Baines was called to the accident site on Route 642, south of Route 611. Mr. Hitt was coming over a snow hill when he could not stop his vehicle and he hit another vehicle as he tried to gain control of his car. Trooper Baines said that he thought Mr. Hitt’s declared speed of approximately 40 miles per hour was excessive for the conditions. Judge Carson disagreed with Mr. Hitt’s contention that the accident “could not be avoided.” He lowered the original charge to improper driver and fined him $50 plus court costs.
