Tree topping
“Is it time to top my trees?”
The answer to this question is that it is never a good time to take a majestic 100 to 200-year-old oak tree and reduce it to a 20-foot eyesore.
This is the time of the year that many tree-topping services advertise and calls come into county Extension agents.
There are several reasons given for this practice of grinding our trees into oversized hat racks. None of which is valid.
