Barney O’Meara said that he found the “Lane-Rudman” resolution unclear. (He was jokingly referring to the Board of Supervisor’s resolution which was drafted by Supervisor Nelson Lane; Mr. O’Meara said that Mr. Lane had used that term).

Mr. O’Meara said that it was the school board’s duty to seek higher teacher salaries by making a concrete case, with statistical information, much the way it would make a case for a new boiler or school buses.

“You should say this is what we need and why,” he stated.

He said that he believes that it is logical to compare this county’s teacher salaries with those in neighboring counties.

In other matters:

The school board passed the SPTA’s request to begin a new playground for the elementary school. (SEE STORY PAGE1.)
