According to Mrs. Cloud, the lot was zoned commercial until adoption of the county’s new zoning ordinance last month changed the designation to agricultural. Mrs. Cloud said she learned of the change when she attempted to get a building permit to add a room onto the side of the existing house on the small lot. “They won’t issue the permit because I can’t meet the setback distance,” she told the planners. .
The sideyard setback in agricultural zones is 100 feet; setback for a commercial zone is just 25 feet, she noted. “I want to build on it and I can’t do it, being like it is,” Mrs. Cloud complained.
