lhe board also reviewed the situation regarding a chain-link fence on Mrs. Irving Sisk’s property behind The Inn at Little Washington on Main Street. An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness, required by the historic district ordinance for all construction within public view, was denied by the board at its November meeting.
Mrs. Miller said that The Inn, which had applied for the certificate through its contractor, Peter Kreyling, had been notified of the board’s decision by certified mail. Mr. Kreyling, she added, had assured her that the fence would be removed by Christmas. “As we know, the fence has not been removed.”
She also said that, contrary to information given the board at the November meeting, the chain-link fence at the back of Mrs. Sisk’s property is on the lot owned by Charles Cannon.
Mrs. Miller said that she had spoken about the situation with Mr. Reynolds, who told her that The Iim,: through its 'attorney - David Dickey, was taking the position that “it’s not our fence. It's on Mrs. Sisk’s property.” Mr. Dickey added that he felt that the ARB did not notify the proper person.
