Dr. William Bloomer, former superintendent of Rappahannock County’s public schools, has been named acting superintendent for Prince William County’s school system.
t)r. Bloomer took over the top position on Jan. 2 after the Prince William County School Board bought out the remaining years in former superintendent Richard Johnson’s contract. “It’s quite an honor and a privilege to provide the professional leadership for this size school division, even on an interim basis,” said Dr. Bloomer.
Prince William County’s system includes 38,000 students and more than 2,000 teachers at 55 schools. The division’s operational budget totals $142 million this year.
