As the Washington Town Council wrestles with options to generate revenue to overhaul the town’s antiquated water system, its members may take some small comfort in knowing they are not alone.
At the March council meeting, a lively debate ensued when it was suggested that the town’s present $6 per 3,000 gallon rate be raised to $10. Presently, any usage above that minimum is charged at 20 cents per 100 gallons for 3.000 to 10,000 gallons; above 10,000 gallons is charged at 30 cents per 100 gallons.
