tan was quoted by Ellen Mustoe in reference to Miss Wood. “She does not toot her own horn. Her good deeds are known by talking to neighbors.” Ms. Mustoe said, “I believe she is a true Christian. She loves her neighbor as she loves herself. I have never heard her criticize anyone and at the same time I have heard no criticism of her.”
Jeanie McNear talked of her dependable volunteer work with the Girl Scouts and senior citizens in the county.
“Aunt MM” is Molly McCoy’s fond name for her aunt. Molly said that Aunt MM has made her love visible to all of her family. She had always been there in their times of need.
“She has spread her fame abroad - not just here in the Washington Baptist Church,” commented Mrs. LeSuer, president of the Missionary Society.
Rev. Jarrell concluded the service by presenting Miss Wood with an engraved silver plate.
Mrs. Sandra Jenkins, church deacon, presented Miss Wood with a Victorian corsage. The altar flowers were given in her honor by Frances Foster.
Miss Wood graciously thanked everyone for everything said about her and done for her. She concluded by reminding everyone to sign up for family portraits, a church project which she is administering. Like most projects in her life, it is coming along fine, and everyone involved will prpfit from her efforts.
