X-C lessons at
Crockett Park
As the winter snow lies quietly on the ground, many people ask, “What outdoor sports can I do in the snow?” The Fauquier County C. M. Crockett Park has the answer. On Saturday, Feb. 13, Fauquier County Parks and Recreation and Class V Outfitters are presenting a Cross Country Ski Workshop at Crockett Park beginning at 2 p. m.
This free two-hour workshop is designed for everyone from the beginner to skilled skiers. Some of the topics covered will be how to purchase ski equipment, stretching for skiing, dressing for warmth, and skiing tips. If participants do not have their own skis, Class V Outfitters, in the Towne Centre Shopping Center, Warrenton, offers ski rental.
“We hope to ski through Crockett Park and practice what we have learned,” said Class V co-manager David Oldaker. In the event of no snow, all subjects will be covered and a video of ski techniques will be shown instead of the skiing practice.
Advance registration is requested so the park’s staff can determine how many people to prepare for. For more information on this workshop, or to make a reservation, call Crockett Park at 788-4867 or Class V Outfitters at 347-5402, by Friday, Feb. 12.
