1 o the editor:
The Jan. 21 issue of the Rappahannock News contained a letter from Mrs. Peggy Banker concerning a hunting incident. The letter contained defamtory remarks about me.
I was shocked to read this letter on the editorial page of the Rappahannock News. My questions to the editor are:
1. Where is the editorial value of this letter to the Rappahannock community?
2. Where is the editorial content in this letter that would justify the publication of the letter?
3. Did the Rappahannock News make any effort to verify the story by calling me or any law enforcement officers to see if warrants were issued?
I think the publication of this letter illustrates a lack of editorial control and direction of the Rappahannock News.
I sincerely hope that the newspaper redirects itself to news stories and issues for local discussion, not to publishing letters of gossip.
