The movie Mary Popping will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre Saturday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. The movie stars Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke and Ed Wynn. Winner of five Academy Awards, Disney’s triumphant musical masterpiece returns with unforgettable songs, exuberant dances and a dazzling combination of live action and animated visual effects. Note: This film will be shown on Saturday at 2 p.m. only and Sunday at 7:30 p.m. The movie is rated G. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
Fashion show planned
The Rappahannock Woman’s Club will sponsor a fashion show on the theme Luck of the Irish Sunday, March 13, at 2 p.m. at the Rappahannock Elementary School. Advance tickets and/or patron ads may be purchased from any member.
Lamaze childbirth series
A seven-week childbirth course will begin Friday, Feb. 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. Instruction in the Lamaze method of breathing will be provided, as well as information on labor and delivery and the newborn. The $55 fee includes a manual, use of a lending library and films. Adventure Team plans party
The 4-H Rappahannock Adventure Team will hold its monthly business meeting and Valentine party Thursday, Feb. 18, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. Anyone interested is welcome to join.
Sight and hearing screening
The Lions Club mobile screening unit will be in Rappahannock County March 9, 10 and 11. The van is equipped with the latest vision and hearing-testing equipment, including diabetes and non-contact glaucoma testing devices. The testing is free and available to everyone. For more information contact any Lions Club member.
Master gardeners class
A Master Gardener Program began Feb. 17 in Front Royal and will meet each Monday and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. until April 11. Classes are held at the Santmyers Youth Center. The cost is $25. Persons interested in attending should contact the Rappahannock Cooperative Extension Service at 675-3619.
‘Moral Survival — Fifties* Fiction
Register now for the lecture-film series “Moral Survival - Fiction of the Fifties” at the Rappahannock Library, beginning Monday, Feb. 29. Professor Joel Foreman of George Mason’s English Department will speak on The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit. The film based on this book will be shown at the Gay Street Theater the following week, as part of an eight-week series of lectures and films. Visit the Library or call 675-3780 for information.
