County’s causus April 11
The Rappahannock County Democratic Committee will hold its caucus, where delegates to the district convention will be chosen, on Monday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the Courthouse.
Those chosen at the county caucus will attend the Seventh Congressional District caucus, to be held at
Culpeper County High School on Saturday, May 21. There, four delegates and one alternate will be chosen to attend the state convention in Virginia Beach on June 3 and 4.
Those congressional district delegates are also apportioned, with Rev. Jackson receiving two delegates and one alternate and Gov. Dukakis and Sen. Gore receiving one delegate each.
At the state convention, an additional 16 at-large delegates, nine atlarge alternates and 10 pledged party leader and elected official delegates will be chosen to attend t he national convention.
Of the state’s 85 delegate total, after the state convention 75 will be pledged to one of the three candidates who qualified to recefve delegates. An additional 10 members of the Commonwealth’s contingent will go to Atlanta as uncommitted delegates.
