PUBLIC DEFENDER Pursuant to Section 19.2-163.2 of the Code of Virginia (Chapter 698 of the 1978 Acts of Assembly, as amended), the Virginia Public Defender Commission Is now accepting applications for the position of Public Defender for the Counties of Loudoun, Fauquier, and Rappahannock. Applicants must be members In good standing of the Virginia State Bar and possess trial practice proficiency, a knowledge of criminal law and procedures, and administrative ability. The Public Defender will be responsible for providing defense services for indigent persons charged with crimes and who are entitled to counsel at State expense (Including Appellate and Habeas Corpus matters). Duties. In addition to criminal trial and Appellate matters, Include hiring and supervising assistant public defenders and support staff and performing administrative functions.
