Counting on permits eventually being issued to C.E. (Skippy) Giles to remodel the Washington Cash Store into downstairs offices, the Rappahannock Health Department will remain in the crowded Clopton House until next March. The second part of Mr. Giles’ plan, to put three ^apartments upstairs, has already , been approved by the Town Council.

And as an interim arrangement, -.Eileen Day, the realtor who owns the Clopton House, is agreeable to having the Health Department stay until next March 1 — but with rent upped to $8.50 per square foot, a 43 t percent increase from the $5.93 currently charged.
