Editor’s note: Lorraine Robson is insiting 'family and friends in Israel. She is sending letters to the Rappahannock News with her firsthand impressions of life in that country, which has been much in the news lately because of the Palestinian uprisings in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip. Her letters are taking some time to reach us, so we request the indulgence of our readers if the events described are -out of date by several weeks.

Today (Tuesday, March 8) I write this letter H&'om the Gaza Strip, the site of riots and upheavals in this beautifril country. I drove here this pnoming to visit my cousin’s son and his family. gjThey are a young family, a family which came to *frork the land, to live here peacefully and to set<^Je with other young men and women. 1* He is not fanatical about religious policies, ■fjust one of the young pioneers — no different >from the young in America in the 1700s and V1800s who moved westward to settle on land of their own. They live on a Moshav or collective farm where each member has his own acreage and earns his own money, but they live within the community. The government has assisted them in building housing and constructing greenhouses. Here are grown more than 300 acres of tomatoes and flowers.
