Auction sale

Salem Ruritan Club is having an auction Saturday, April 30, beginning at 5 p.m. at Salem Ruritan Building on Rt. 522 at Griffinsburg. Items will be received Friday, April 29, and Saturday, April 30, until 3 p.m. For additional information contact Edmund Burke at 547-3926.

Lions auction May 14

The Rappahannock Lions Club will hold its annual benefit auction on Saturday, May 14, at the Washington fire house. Donations of items for auction are urgently needed, but no clothing or food items will be accepted. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the high school for the purchase of a scoreboard for the new gym. Cash contributions will also be accepted, and all donations are tax deductible. Pick-up of donated items may be arranged through Lions Club or high school Varsity Club members.

Gospel Music benefit

A gospel music concert will be held at the Gay St. Theatre on Friday, April 15, at 7 p.m. Proceeds will benefit Jessie Smith, a six-yearold who is suffering from cancer. The concert is being sponsored by RAAC and David Clanagan and Free Spirit, and will feature a number of local gospel groups and singers. There will be solos by Dean Lamb and Geana Fletcher. Admission is free but an offering to help Jessie Smith will be taken. The public is invited to attend.

Honorary Fire Chief

The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department is looking for young women, 12-18 years old, to compete for the title of Honorary Fire Chief. The title will be awarded at the Department’s annual carnival. For more information, contact Joyce LiMard, 987-8952. v .

Laboratory open house

In honor of National Medical Laboratory Week, April 10-16, Fauquier Hospital will hold a clinical laboratory open house Saturday, April 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited to tour the lab, watch demonstrations of various lab procedures, meet the staff of the laboratory department and find out how their services can be beneficial to you.

Annual geranium sale

Orange Cooperative Pre-school is having their annual geranium sale, offering geraniums in red, white, pink and salmon in four-inch pots at $15 a dozen (12 plants) or $1.25 each. Plants will be available at the school the last week in April. Orders can be placed during April at Orange Cooperative Pre-school, Bell View Avenue on Newton Street, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 to 12, or by calling 672-4755 or after 6 and weekends 672-5979.
