Gifted and Talented Screening, Advisory and Unit Development committees at RCES. She will address self-esteem in the elementary school classroom and the role of the teacher in fostering that feeling. She will also speak on methods for developing self-esteem and the effects self-esteem, or the lack of it, can have on social and academic performance.
• Dianne Pendleton: The mother of four, Mrs. Pendleton is a teacher’s aide and guidance secretary at Rappahannock County High School. Her three oldest children are honor graduates of RCHS, and her youngest child is a current honor student at the high school. Since completing high school, her older children have all gone on to college, achieving Dean’s List honors in their graduate studies.
Mrs. Pendleton will speak on the experience she and her husband, Holly, have had in raising children in a combined family. She feels that the love, support, religious and academic guidance which they offered their children enhanced their development and contributed to their success in school.
•Dr. Rodney Kibler: Dr. Kibler is a counselor and consulting psychologist with the Rappahannock County Schools and is the father of four young sons. His education includes a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. He will speak on the importance of listening and communnications skills and how they relate to the self-esteem children feel.
