Bloodmobile May 4

The Extension Homemakers are again sponsoring the Red Cross Blood Mobile on May 4, at the Washington Fire Department. “Mark your calendars and make plans to give,” said Extension Agent Sandra Richardson. Oasis ‘SpringFest’ April 30

“SpringFest 88,” the first Virginia Wine Festival of the year, will be held on Saturday, April 30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Oasis Vineyard, near Hume. Oasis’ SpringFest, known for its premium wines and champagne, will feature activities for the young and old: air acrobatics, grape stomping, hot air balloon rides, a cork hunt, live music and entertainment, Virginia food products, and culminating the day, the crowning of the Lord and Lady of the Vine (for the best limerick or poem relating to the wine or vine). Tickets are $5 per person in advance and $7 at the gate, with persons under 21 admitted free. EMT refresher class at

Fauquier Hospital

An EMT-A Refresher class will be conducted at Fauquier Hospital in May and June. Class dates are May 2, 5, 7, 16, 19 and 21; June 2 and 4. The state examination will be given June 7. Monday Alternative postponed

The Rappahannock County Library’s Monday Night Alternative for March has been postponed until May 23. William Dietel will speak on “Making a Difference: Reflections on Philanthropy, Rockefellers and Rappahannock.” On April 25, Sally Nash will present a program on The Creative Process. In May, Roger Kennedy will speak on The Smithsonian Institutions.
