He follows his dad, Porter Church, and like his father, he’s a dynamic, hard driving picker in the style popularized by Earl Scruggs. To the tight bluegrass harmonies, he adds baritone and lead. (Both on stage and in the studio where they’ve recorded 20 albums, all of the Gentlemen sing lead on one tune or another; their vocal versatility enables them to switch positions to suit the song and give variety to the sound.)
