The Library Board got detailed plans for the stacks and work area portion of the new library when it met with architect Dwight Mathews last Thursday.
Mr. Mathews said he felt the proposed actual library space would hold up to 21,<KK) volumes, and a small 400-square-foot addition could house another 4,000. He said he thought there was no need for a third 1500-square-foot module to have enough space for 25,000 books, and that perhaps even the small addition could be built for the anticipated cost of $500,000.
“Have we decided whether to use the 5,000-square feet to include a multi-purpose room?” Mary Jamieson asked.
“We’re in between,” said Library Board Chairman William Young.
"Functionally and architecturally it’s an important part of the building,” Mr. Mathews commented.
"I just wondered if we had made it definite," Mrs. Jamieson said. “We can't be quasi about this.” She said
