Located on the property, Customs will inspect overseas goods coming into the port. The port operation is run by only a dozen people employed by Virginia International Terminals Inc., a non-profit organization created by the VPA.
The staff is not expected to increase greatly in size. “You'd be amazed what 12 people can do,” said John Henry, VIT foreman. The VPA expects the facility to attract new companies and development opportunities to Front Royal and the surrounding area.
