Perhaps, but don’t make plans to watch the 1989 World Series on the new cable system. There are still many questions to be answered.
Commonwealth Attorney Peter Luke presented the Board of Supervisors with a draft of a cable TV ordinance at last Monday’s meeting. He said that the county would first have to have an ordinance, and then it could grant a franchise or franchises to cable companies. Most of the technical details would be in the franchise agreements, he said.
“Some ordinances have the technical data in the ordinance, but the Federal Communications Commission frequently makes changes in technical requirements,” Mr. Luke said. He recommended that the county put all the current requirements into the franchise agreement. “We’re entitled to a fee of no more than five percent a year,” he said.
