John Bowers
John Russell Bowers, 73, of Culpeper, died May 1 at his residence.
Mr. Bowers was a native of Rappahannock County and had lived in Culpeper for a number of years. He was a retired farmer and a member of Novum Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Mae Dodson Bowers, Culpeper; three daughters, Dottie Mae Fincham, Culpeper, Elizabeth Ann Blankenbaker, Manassas, Janet Marie Tharp, Culpeper; two sons, Robert Lee Bowers, Winchester and John Russell Bowers Jr., Culpeper; four sisters, Emma Martin and Jessie Fincham, both of Culpeper, Lois Smith, Rappahannock and Robie Lee; one brother, Marshall Bowers, Culpeper; 21 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ashby Bowers Jr.
A funeral service was held at Clore Funeral Home Chapel on May 4 with the Rev. John S. Farrar officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Culpeper.
Elizabeth Haynes
Elizabeth Eastham Walker Haynes, 76, of Front Royal, died May 6 in the Life Care Center of New Market.
Mrs. Haynes was born June 21, 1912, in Rappahannock County, the daughter of the late Philip Byrd and Mafie Deatherage Eastham. She was secretary with the commissioner of revenue in Front Royal for
