Covaney said the VTA expects a volume of approximately 175 containers for the month of May. During this first year of operation, the port is expected to handle 20,000 containers.
At an estimated ten tons per container, the expected annual volume could reach a weight of 200,000 tons. By next year, the volume is projected to double.
