Crump declared nominee
Edgar Baldwin, chairman of the 31 st District Democratic committee, announced that he has received notification that four previously uncommitted delegates have decided to support David Crump as the Democratic nominee for the 31st District seat in Virginia's House of Delegates. Mr. Crump now has 18 delegates, three more than the 15 required for the nomination. Mr. Baldwin said that Barbara Greco, the other candidate seeking the nomination, has been informed and agreed with the district committee's decision.
F & M declares 3% dividend
The board of directors of F&M National Corp., a bank holding company whose assets include F&M Bank of Flint Hill, have declared a first quarter dividend of 3 percent. The corporation announced that first quarter profits were up 9.5 percent to 34 cents per share, up from 31 cents per share for the same period last year. Net income for the corporation was $2.50 million, an increase from the $2.29 million posted last year.
