Mrs. Tole said the statement did not require that the teacher be the same sex as the student because “we are hoping to utilize the public health nurse or outside instructors as necessary.”
“I have had the privilege of working with a fine group of dedicated individuals who made a commitment to the youth of the Rappahanock County Public Schools to develop the best possible Family Life Education curriculum that would meet the many needs of our community,” Mrs. Tole said. “Reinforcement by teachers, parents and the community of information, values, and objectives is critical to the fullfillment of the goal of Family Life Education in Rappahannock.
“Our goal is to nuture and equip our children with the knowledge and skills to make appropriate life decisions,” she said.
“Parents are and should be the primary family life educators of their children,” Mrs. Tole emphasized. “The curriculum in Rappahannock County is not meant to be an infringement on families, but rather a support and resource for happy, healthy family and community living.
“A parent night will be planned for the fall so parents can visit classrooms, view materials and talk with their child’s teacher." Mrs. Tole said.
