Rappahannock County has
been awarded a $9,000 planning grant by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), according to an announcement made last week by the Virginia Department of Housing. The grant is intended to cover twothirds of the cost of the county's comprehensive plan, currentlv being drawn up by the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District Commission in conjunction with the Rappahannock Plan ning Commission.
Cadette Girl Scouts in Rappahannock are planning a trip to New York the week after the close of school. They have raised most of the money for the trip themselves; however, they wenvery grateful for the donation of $100 recently from the Rappahannock Lions Club and for the prizes contributed by area merchants for their April Fun Fair.

there’s hardly a wrinkle on his face. His mind is as clear as the morning on Red Oak Mountain. He’s Clarence Berkley “C.B.” Johnson, and when he turned 90 on May 25, people from all over Rappahannock County and elsewhere turned out to wish him Happy Birthday . C.B. was born in Browntown, in Warren County, in 1894. But he grew up in Woodville. on top of. Red Oak, the same mountain his ancestors first inhabited in 1745.
