COUNTY COORDINATOR
The County of Rappahannock is seeking qualified applicants for rhe temporary, parr time (20 hrs per week) position of Gypsy Morh Coordinator. The Gypsy Moth Coordinator will direct and coordinate oil gypsy morh activities in rhe County including information distribution, population suppression, etc
The work involves collecting gypsy morh population data on a predetermined grid including, egg mass sampling, adult male trapping and forest sire data colleaion. The Coordinator will usually be working alone and will be expected to meet sampling deadlines. The Coordinator will be familiarized with rhe gypsy moth program and trained in sampling techniques, mop reading, record keeping and orher administrative matters prior to starting actual work.
In addition, rhe Coordinator will participate with rhe Virginia Deportment of Agriculture and Consumer Services in any subsequent decision-making and intervention activities associated wirh rhe Appalachian Integrated Pest Manangemenr Gypsy Morh Project (AIPM). The Coordinator will arrange for, and participate in, public meetings, as necessary, to keep rhe public informed of project activities. The Coordinator will act as liason between VDAC5 and rhe County Administrator.
Applicants must demonstrate an ability to meet and work wirh rhe public, as well os to make decisions, organize work and carry out gypsy morh related activities. An ability to work under minimal supervision is required. Completion of studies in entomology, agricultural related or orher biological science is preferred. As rhe position requires driving (a personal vehicle), outdoor work, hiking, map reading, and working alone, rhe employee must have a valid driver's license, be in good health, have some map reading skills, and be able to work alone
