RLV to meet
This Friday, June 2 is the day for the monthly meeting of RLV at the usual 9:30 hour in the usual place, Trinity Church Parish Hall. “We will welcome anyone who wants to know anything about what we do,” said a volunteer.
Musical at Hopewell
The Gospel Chorus of the Second Baptist Church of Falls Church will be in concert at the Hopewell Baptist Church, Sperryville on Saturday, June 3 at 7 p.m. All are welcome.
'The Naked Gun'
The movie The Naked Gun will be playing at the Gay Street Theater on Saturday and Sunday, June 3 and 4 at 8 p.m. each evening. The movie stars Leslie Nielsen and Priscilla Presley. This hilarious spoof was inspired by TV series “Police Squad” stars Nielsen as Frank Drebin, the bumbling big-city cop who relies on sheer luck to solve crimes. He uncovers a plot to assasinate the Queen of England. This is a film so big and bold and outrageous that you won’t believe it even when you see it! The movie is rated PG-13. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
Burke reunion
The families of the late Lewis and Bessie Jenkins Burke will hold a reunion on Sunday, June 11 at the Rappahannock Park near Washington. Family members and friends are invited to attend, bringing a picnic lunch and beverage, and meet old and new friends. Lunch will be served at 12:30.
Willing Workers Day June 4
Willing Workers Day will be held Sunday, June 4 at Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Amissville. Guest speaker for the 3 p.m. service will be Rev. Wendell Grant, pastor of First Baptist Church. Elder Norman Campbell is pastor of Mt. Moriah and invites the public to attend.
Flea market to benefit FHFD
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department’s second annual flea market is planned for Saturday, June 3, beginning at 10 a.m. at the fire grounds. All proceeds go to the fire department for operational expenses. Donations of new or usable items are needed. All donations are tax deductible. Items may be dropped off at the fire hall on May 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or by contacting any fire company member. Magic show at Sperryville
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department will have a magic show Friday, June 2 at 8 p.m. at the fire hall. Tickets are $2 in advance and $3 at the door. See any member for tickets.
Amissville carnival set
Amissville Fire Department’s annual carnival will be held June 28-Julv 1. Anyone interested in entering categories in the parade, which will be held June 29, is asked to contact Sheila Scott, 937-4357.
