To the editor:
A word to those who oppose the Family Life Curriculum: There is absolutely nothing in this program that precludes parents from giving their children sex education. If FLE is adopted parents still have the option of providing the information at home.
And if they do not take the opportunity to responsibly educate their children, - which already happens with manners and discipline - the schools will fill in the gaps, again.
I have read the entire curriculum for FLE. I find it value-based and age appropriate. If anything there’s a lag between the age at which children ask questions and the age at which FLE will provide the answers.
