Although the fire in the apartment was contained and extinguished within 10 or 15 minutes, Chief Burke said, further investigation to make sure the fire had not spread through the attic was also necessary.

He said the bedroom and its contents were destroyed, and there was smoke and water damage to the rest of the apartment. There was no damage to the rest of the building other than the smell of smoke, according to owner Ed Armentrout.
