Spaghetti dinner Jan. 11
The annual seventh-grade spaghetti dinner has been rescheduled for 5 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11 at the Rappahannock County Elementary School. The RCES band and choir program will follow the dinner at 7:30 p.m. Prices are $6 for adult, all you can eat, $5 for single serving and $3 for children under 10. Fire Association dinner
The Rappahannock Fire and Rescue Association dinner and dance will be held, 7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 13 at the Flint Hill fire hall. All members are asked to bring a covered dish. Awards and music will follow the dinner.
Putnam to read Jan. 13
Nol Putnam will read selections from his works in progress, “With Apologies to Chekhov, Part I-Ivan” at the Town Hall in Washington. The reading will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13. The public is invited to attend, encouraged to dress warmly, and donations will be accepted.
Herbal Medicine workshop
There will be a one-day workshop on Traditional Healing and Herbal Medicine, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 3 in Flint Hill. For registration, information and directions call Kathleen Maier at 636-3078. Fee is on a sliding-scale basis, $40 to 60 per person.
'Do the Right Thing'
The movie “Do the Right Thing” will be playing at the Gay Street Theater, 7:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 13 and 14. Spike Lee is at his best. . . and drags you into a politically sizzling kitchen where Italians serve pizza, Koreans serve vegetables but blacks do all the buying. Whether or not you agree with Lee’s views, this is a comical, provocative, outrageous and highly controversial film. “L.A. critics’ award to Spike Lee as Best Director and picked by The Washington Post and others among Best Ten Films of 1989.” The movie is rated R.
