At the Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue annual awards banquet, fire chief Paul Poling was honored for having 50 years of service. He was presented with a Cairns New Yorker all-leather helmet. Other awards follow.
The community is proud of all the volunteers and deeply appreciates their unselfish dedication. Scott Chamerlain received recognition as EMS Member of the Year; Mick Howard, Rookie of the Year; J.B. Carter, EMS Dedication Award; Eugene Daymude, Outstanding Firefighter of the Year; Doug Meuller, Junior Firefighter of the Year; Robert Croston, Firefighter Dedication Award; Perry Breeden, Clifford Clate and Mike Howard received achievement awards; and Barbara and Eugene Daymude, Fire House Award.
On Jan. 2, the Amissville Homemakers Club elected Mrs. Mary Priest to be its new president. Also, three new members were accepted into the club.
The Amissville Ruritans will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Amissville Baptist at 7:30 p.m. Ruritans president Butch Zindel invites prospective new members to attend. Amissville Cub Scouts Pack 50 will hold its weekly meeting, 7 p.m.8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 16 at the United Methodist Church. Boys in grades 1 through 5 are invited to join. They plan to go roller skating on Jan. 20. For more details, call Boosie or Dixie Dodson at 937-5218.
