For the United Way of Culpeper, the new year started off with some . unpleasant news; its fund drive campaign has only reached 74 percent of its goal.
“Reasons for this lack of response from the community are many,” according to Bud Glass, campaign chairman. “Our thanks goes out to those who continue to invest in their community. And to those who have not helped, we can only ask again that they reconsider and make a generous contribution to the United Way.”
The campaign will offically end on Jan. 11, three months from our 1989 kickoff,” Mr. Glass said. “After our final count, our allocations committee will have to make some difficult decisions about cutbacks in financial services to agencies. This will be a very difficult job for the U.W. board members, since all of the agencies depend on the U.W. funds to operate.”
