The 13 cyclists, accompanied by two team members in a large recreational vehicle, set out from Washington, D.C. on Sunday. After a stop in Warrenton (“the mayor invited us for a swim in his pool. It was great!” according to one biker), they spent the night at the Rappahannock County Park.
Early Monday morning the bikers left, heading west on U.S. 211 to Thornton Gap, where they turned south onto the Skyline Drive. The group planned to spend Monday night in Harrisonburg before moving west again into West Virginia.
