Council member Susan Parrish, also a member of Trinity’s Vestry Committee, replied that the Rev. Jennings Hobson III had attempted that. “Jenks was pretty frustrated at our last meeting. He went out and tried his level best to talk to them — and he was jeered and ridiculed.”
Councilman Ray Gooch said that he had gone to the Post Office the evening before the collect his mail and the scene in the parking lot was “pretty disgusting. I don’t want to see kissy-face in the parking lot when I go in to get my mail.”
Evelyn Willis, who owns the property next to the Country Cafe, added that attempts to talk with the group had so far been unsuccessful. “People didn’t seem to want to take (legal action). But it’s gotten out of hand, and people seem more willing to do it.”
