Rappahannock’s Addison L. Swindler, Jr. was awarded the First Oak Leaf Cluster to the Meritorious Service Medal in ceremonies held in the office of the Director of Target Materials, Directorate of Intelligence, Strategic Air Command, Offutt AFB, Nebraska. The award read in part, “the distinctive accomplishments of Chief Master Sergeant Swindler culminate a distinguished career in the service of his country...” CMS Swindler is the son of Mrs. Lee Swindler, Sperryville and' the late Mr. Swindler. In a majority decision at the July 8 meeting, the Rappahannock school board agreed to a request from the county supervisors to have maintenance work on the sheriffs department cars done by school bus shop personnel.
