Yet there are other things going on in Virginia involving political and legislative matters that deserve renewed attention, not the least of which is an economic picture that doesn’t seem to get any rosier and could have huge political repercussions.
While Virginia is in good fiscal shape compared to many other states, Virginians have been spoiled by budget surpluses, low taxes and prosperous times. Enterprising journalists might start peering into the future to see what kind of leaner meaner era may dawn if the defense industry shrinks and the booming development of the Northern Virginia to Tidewater ‘Golden Crescent’ isn’t so explosive any more.
