next year, at the high school, students in the lowest 40 percent be included in the remedial reading program, and those in the lowest 30 percent be included in the remedial mathemetics program.
Following an executive session, the board appointed Amy Stone to an elementary school teaching position, Tim Corder as cross country coach, and Mike Tupper as soccer and baseball coach.
The school system still needs to hire a part-time school psychologist and a full-time speech pathologist. Rappahannock has been sharing a school psychologist with the Warren County School System. This past year he worked two days a week in Rappahannock and three days a week in Warren. However, Warren County has hired him to work full time in the next school year.
Dr. Gangel reported on summertime maintenance projects at both schools. Some classrooms are being repainted at both schools, he said. Window repairs are also going on at both schools. At the elementary one or two additional classrooms will be carpeted.
At the high school the gym floor is being refinished. Also at the high school the parking lot will be relocated behind the baseball field so that a new girls softball field can be located in the approximate area where the parking lot is now.
