friend’s relative, Mike Thomas, was afflicted with the disease. He had planned a vacation tour of the United States for a group from the university, but decided to turn it into a fundraiser after he learned of Mr. Thomas’s plight.
MS attacks young adults in the prime of life, usually in their teens, 20s and 30s. Often there is no prior history of illness or disease. It is not infectious, contagious or hereditary. It strikes suddenly and unpredictably, and its progression is also unpredictable. Some victims go through life with limited disabilities, while others, like Mike Thomas, suffer severe and debilitating effects.
The Bicycle USA Expedition hopes to raise 100,000 English pounds (about $170,000) through the bike tour. Each team member is
