The proclamation of a mail
referendum on 1971 crop wheat marketing quotas has been made, according to H.S. Barksdale, Chairman of the Rappahannock County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation (ASC) Committee with the dates set for July 27-31. Wheat growers will receive farm allotments, a program information leaflet, and a ballot in the mail before the July 27-31 referendum.
A large group of viewers lined the streets in Sperryville Thursday night for the annual parade held in connection with the firemen’s carnival. The fire department reported a most successful four-night festival with record attendance on Saturday. The gross receipts of the fournight carnival totaled in excess of $8,500.
