The Inn at Little Washington embarks on a new chapter in its already colorful history following the release of a 13-page report by the Citizen’s Advisory Committee on The Inn’s planned expansion.
The committee report includes results of a survey of 122 people who work, live or own property in the town of Washington as well as recommendations to both The Inn and the Town Council about the project.
“The majority of persons surveyed were ‘concerned’ about The Inn’s proposal and favored moderate, sensitive expansion. ‘Balance,’ ‘scale,’ ‘compatibility,’ ‘appropriateness,’ ‘in character,’ and the like were expression recurring in responses” to the survey, according to the committee’s report. x The 10-member committee took about 14 months to complete its survey and report, releasing it late last week.
“The report ends up being very broad and very balanced and I’m delighted it’s achieved the kind of objectivity we wanted to get out of the process,” said committee chairman Jim Thomasson. Other committee members were Joyce Kramer, Dr. Werner Krebser,
