Dwyer reunion
The families and relatives of the late Alfred and Miles Jackson Dwyer will hold their first family reunion from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 14 at the Washington fire hall. “Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish and beverage and come, spend the day with us,” said an organizer. '1776' showings 4th of July
RAAC has made special arrangements to show the patriotic motion picture “1776,” a full-length musical comedy portraying Beryamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and the other signers of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia during the historic summer of 1776. There will be two showings of this happy hit movie at the Theater; at 1:30 p.m. and again at 5 p.m. A special holiday price will be $2 admission for all ages. For information call RAAC at 675-3193.
Antique show and sale
The first annual Rappahannock County Antique Show and Sale will be held at Rappahannock Elementary Sept. 28 and 29. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and early bird is from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. Regular admission will be $3.50 and early bird costs $15. There will be quality merchandise, moderate prices and no reproductions and will benefit the Child Care and Learning Center. Interested dealers should contact Charles A. Farm Show catalogs are now available at the Extension Office. Stop by and pick up a copy. The Farm Show will be held at Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises July 26-29. Deadline for entries is July 3.
Fourth of July celebration
Great Meadow will host a powerful new 4th of July celebration this year with a special theme based on celebration of the Bicentennial of the American Bill of Rights.
After*high praise for its spectacular fireworks display here last year, the 200-year-old French pyrotechnics designer Ruggieri has again been selected to stage the fireworks, including a special surprise re-creation from Operation Desert Storm.
A number of special events are planned, including national champion stunt pilot Earl Andrews, who will perform over Great Meadow in his 400-mph Pitt Special.
A jousting tournament, jugglers and strolling minstrels will entertain arrivals, together with relay and sack races for small children. Food services will be available. Gates open at 5 p.m. and fireworks will begin at dark.
Advance tickets will go on sale at area outlets in June. Watch the Fauquier Times-Democrat, sponsor of the event, for location of ticket outlets. Great Meadow is located between The Plains and Warrenton near 1-66, a short drive from Rappahannock County.
