Hospice’s availability 24 hours a day seven days a week gave patient Bill and family reassurance that they would never be without help.
Bill was assisted with shaving, bathing, and hygiene by Hospice’s certified nursing assistant. This allowed Bill’s wife a break from this daily responsibility.
Bill’s wife continues, “You gave our daughter the special attention she needed during this time.” The Hospice volunteer soon became friends with Bill’s daughter, who needed support and information regarding Bill’s declining physical condition. With much encouragement from Hospice’s social worker, nurses, and volunteer. Bill’s daughter assisted with caring for her father.
Bereavement support is given to Bill’s wife, children, and grandchildren for up to one year. This includes emotional support as well as counselling about financial matters.
