John McCutcheon

This Saturday’s Warren Green concert in Warrenton features John McCutcheon, recently called "the Springsteen of folk music.”
He is an engaging singer, songwriter and storyteller who performs a variety of traditional tunes, children’s songs, improbable tales and ballads mostly of his own invention or design.
Mr. McCutcheon plays fiddle, banjo and guitar and is a virtuoso on the hammer dulcimer. He has recorded a dozen albums and has toured extensively throughout the world.
Mr. McCutcheon completed a nation-wide Friendship Tour of the United States this spring with noted Russian folksinger Gregory Gladkov. Bluemont was able to sponsor part of the tour with performances at schools in Culpeper and Leesburg and an evening concert.
. Later this summer, Mr. McCutcheon will travel to the USSR for the second half of the Friendship Tour, for concerts across that nation with Gregory Gladkov, bringing traditional American music and his own compositions to Soviet audiences.
People attending the concert are encouraged to contribute $3 per person towards the cost of the evening. The show starts at 7 p.m. on Culpeper Street in Old town. There is plenty of parking available, and downtown streets are closed to vehicular traffic during a concert.
Families are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chairs and a picnic if they like. Homemade refeshments prepared by PAGE of Fauquier will be available at intermission. Doorprizes for the concert will be provided by G. Whillikers Toys, The Custom House, and The Depot Restaurant.
The concert will be held outdoors and a decision to move indoors is made at 5 p.m. on the day of the concert. Information will be broadcast over local radio stations.* In the event of bad weather, this concert will be hold indoors at Warrenton Junior High School.
